Summary: |
3 Months duration, 27 team members, strict deadline
because of Iridium global marketing launch |
This project presented an extreme challenge due to the number
of persons involved (one translator and one editor for each
language), the tight and fixed deadline (the global marketing
launch of the Iridum campagne) and the distribution of the
project members across 14 time zones.
Finally, the marketing agency delivered the translation
input with 6 weeks delay, so that the project got under heavy
pressure.
To be able to deliver results within about half of the projected
time, several classical project management strategies were
employed including:
- "Early start": the translation pipeline was started with
incomplete text to eliminate process lead times
- Cost/Time compromises were shifted towards cost
- "Graceful degradiance": Instead to deliver all-or-none
results, we delivered daily releases of the web site with
English as a default for missing translations.
